Our Future Residents
Your desire to stay in control is empowered through your partnership with The Hermitage!
Many people struggle with when, whether or how to consider a move. For many, their home, that they once loved has become a chore, burden and responsibility
that takes time away from spending time with the ones they love or doing the things they enjoy.
Why Residents Love Living Here?
Many of our residents share that they love living in a community where all the maintenance, inside and out, is taken care of. Transportation to
arts, social, sporting events as well as the doctor, grocery and other errands are a wonderful way to simplify life and enjoy socializing while
maintaining control and independence. The Hermitage’s person centered approach recognizes, respects and honors that we are all individuals.
You decide what and when you want to eat; sleep in, get up early or take a nap when you want. It sounds normal and unworthy of mention but
it is unique to The Hermitage. Our mission is to adapt our team and community to your routine and to provide a plan for you and the one you
love should things change.

Residents, Not Profits, are our Highest Focus
As a not-for-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community, The Hermitage offers all levels of living short of an acute care hospital setting. If
life changes, residents can arrange for services in their residences or can move to a special level of living for memory or
nursing support. The key point many residents share is that THEY are making their own decisions and choices. It is amazing
how powerful a gift a plan is to yourself and the ones you love.
Can I Afford This?
Many people wonder if they can afford to live in a community like The Hermitage. Often the easiest comparison is to quantify the costs of home,
not just the bills, taxes and insurance but the ongoing maintenance and trapped equity in that old house. The Hermitage does not have an Entrance
Fee like most other continuing care retirement communities which makes it much more affordable. And we make sure that you can afford living
here by conducting a thorough financial and actuarial review.
Most of your other alternatives will not invest the time and effort to be sure you can afford to comfortable live at their community. Most communities
do not have the safety net of the Samaritan Program either. The Hermitage is part of Virginia United Methodist Homes, Inc. (VUMH),
a not-for-profit organization, and our lifelong relationship with our residents means something to us. We make a commitment to provide assistance
to those who, through no fault of their own, become unable to fully meet the financial responsibilities of their residence or care. As with
any relationship this one is based on reciprocity…by reviewing your financial and actuarial projections we can be sure that your plan
to call The Hermitage home is the right one.
